Apple IPhone 16e Goes On Sale, Starts At $599

Apple announced the iPhone 16e about a week ago, but it wasn’t on sale from the get-go. The pre-order period was valid until now, but units have now started to ship to consumers, and the iPhone 16e is available to buy in stores.

You can now buy the iPhone 16e in stores for $599

You can grab Apple’s new “cheap” iPhone for $599. That’s its starting price tag for the 128GB storage variant. Its 256GB storage option will set you back $699, while the 512GB storage variant costs $899 in the US.

The iPhone 16e comes in black and white colors, and even though it’s the cheapest iPhone in the series, it’s certainly not cheap. It’s a spiritual successor to the iPhone SE 3, but it’s notably more expensive.

The iPhone SE 3 was priced at $429, while the cheapest iPhone 16e costs $599 in the US. The prices vary in other regions, of course. Speaking of which, the phone is now available in stores in a number of markets, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, and more.

It lacks a number of iPhone 16 features

This smartphone comes with some concessions on Apple’s part. It has only one camera on the back. That camera also doesn’t have all the features the iPhone 16 offers, unfortunately.

That’s not all, however. It also has a notch on the front instead of a Dynamic Island. Apple is backtracking design-wise. One of the biggest omissions is the lack of MagSafe magnets inside the phone. You’ll need a case to use your MagSafe accessories.

The iPhone 16e also has slower wireless charging, and there are some other changes. The point is, this is what Apple envisioned the cheapest iPhone, an iPhone for everyone, basically. It does seem a bit too bare-bones, though, especially for the price. It’s up to you to decide whether that’s the case or not.
