Apple IPhone 16 Pro: Price, Features, Availability & More
Alongside the regular iPhone 16 models, Apple also announced the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max on September 9, 2024. These are using Grade 5 Titanium once again, and come in a new set of colors. Though they are mostly the same colors, I just swapped out the Blue Titanium for a Desert Titanium color. Prices are also remaining the same, despite the many rumors of price increases leading up to the launch.
The rumors were true, Apple is upping the display sizes this year. So it’s now 6.3-inches on the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9-inches on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple did this by making the bezels even smaller and the phones physically a bit larger. Speaking of dimensions, the iPhone 16 Pro is now 149.6 x 71.5 x 8.25, compared to 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25mm on the iPhone 15 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is now 163 x 77.6 x 8.25mm, compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max at 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.25mm.
Both models do weigh more than their predecessors. The iPhone 16 Pro weighs about 12g more at 199 grams. And the iPhone 16 Pro Max is about 6g more at 227 grams.
Both of these models sport the A18 Pro chipset, which is a 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. RAM is also not mentioned, though we do believe that it has 12GB this year, making it the most in any iPhone.
On the camera side of things, there are no dual 48-megapixel cameras for ultrawide and primary sensors. With a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor. This year, both models get the tetraprism camera capable of 5x optical zoom. Also new this year is the anti-reflective lens coating. There’s no 8K recording available, but you can now do 4K Dolby Vision at up to 120fps. And the front camera is still 12-megapixels.
Apple doesn’t mention how large the batteries are, but they do say that the battery life is the best on any iPhone ever. Their quoted battery life on the iPhone 16 Pro is now 27 hours of video playback, up from 23 hours on iPhone 15 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is up to 33 hours of video playback now, up from 29 hours on iPhone 15 Pro Max.

How much is the iPhone 16 Pro?
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are sticking with the same pricing as last year. So, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 for 128GB of storage. Or you can get 256GB for $1,099, 512GB for $1,299 and 1TB for $1,499.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will come in at $1,199 for 256GB of storage. Jumping up to 512GB is going to be $1,399 and 1TB is $1,599. It’s surprising that Apple is still staggering the storage options across the Pro models this year, instead of ditching the 128GB iPhone 16 Pro.
Where can I buy the iPhone 16 Pro
You will be able to buy the iPhone 16 Pro virtually anywhere. Anywhere that sells tech will offer the iPhone 16 Pro. That includes Apple, Amazon, AT&T, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Costco, Sam’s Club, T-Mobile, Verizon and many other options. A number of MVNOs will also sell the iPhone 16 Pro, including Visible, Xfinity Mobile, and many more.
Keep in mind that on Apple’s website, you’ll be able to pay in installments using your Apple Card and the iPhone Upgrade Program. This allows you to upgrade every year without changing how much you’re paying. The price is a bit higher here, but that is also because AppleCare is included in the upgrade program.
What colors does the iPhone 16 Pro come in?
Again this year, Apple is offering the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in four colors. That’s Natural Titanium, White Titanium, Black Titanium and Desert Titanium. Not Gold, like many were expecting. But instead a tad darker gold color that is being called “Desert”.
What features will the iPhone 16 Pro bring?
We all know that iOS 18 is coming pretty soon. And that will bring a whole lot of features, but here are some that are not part of iOS 18, and exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro.
Big battery, long battery life
According to Apple, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will have the longest battery life of any iPhone ever. Meaning that they should outpace the iPhone 16 Plus, which wasn’t the case the last few years. Apple has not mentioned how large these batteries are, we will find that out when a teardown happens.
Along with the bigger batteries, the more power efficient A18 Pro should really improve battery life.
Camera Control
The much-rumored Capture Button is here, as Camera Control. This button is actually really cool. It’s a capacitive button, so we’re going to see lots of cases with cutouts for this button, unfortunately. But it means that you can slide your finger across the button to change the zoom, exposure and aperture. It is also being used for Apple’s new Visual Intelligence feature, which sounds a lot like Google Lens. You can use the Camera Control button to snap a photo and figure out what’s in that picture. Upgraded ultrawide camera
Apple has upgraded the ultrawide camera, it’s now a 48-megapixel sensor, which is going to greatly improve the ultrawide shots and macro photography on iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
4K120 video capture with Dolby Vision
Continuing on with the camera, Apple is also bringing 4K120 recording to the Pro models this year. This is going to allow for much more high-quality slow-motion video. Or a better video for fast-action, like a game or a race. Apple is also allowing users to change up the speed of the video after you record it. So you can make it a slow-motion video if you choose to.

So what cases can you buy for iPhone 16 Pro? There are loads of them, and unsurprisingly, FineWoven is nowhere to be seen. But apparently, Apple released new FineWoven MagSafe wallets in some new colors, too.
