Apple “conveniently” Killed The IPhone 14 After Announcing A New Phone

Contents
Today, Apple just announced the new iPhone 16e, its latest affordable phone. All attention is on this device, as it brings some notable changes over the iPhone SE 3. However, while everyone’s heads were turned, it looks like the company silently stabbed its older handset in the back. Apple discontinued the iPhone 14 series after announcing the iPhone 16e.
You heard that right, folks, Apple just announced a new phone. The iPhone 16e is the spiritual successor to the iPhone SE 3, and it brings the same mentality over. It’s the cheaper iPhone you buy when you don’t want to pay $800.
With it, users get the powerful Apple A18 chip, the new Apple C1 modem, long battery life, a notched 6.1-inch display, a single 48MP camera, the Action Button, Apple Intelligence, and more features. Think of it as a slightly less premium iPhone 16. If you’re interested in getting this phone, you can pre-order it starting Friday, February 21st. General sales will start on February 28th. The iPhone 16e starts at $599 for the 128GB variant.
Apple has discontinued the iPhone 14
This is a bit surprising to see. If you go onto the Apple Website, aside from seeing flashy animations of the iPhone 16e, you’ll notice that the option to view the iPhone 14 is gone. Apple has scrubbed all mentions of that phone from the site.
Sure, in tech, it’s usually out with the old and in with the new, but this was a pretty quick change. Apple doesn’t even want to acknowledge its popular 2022 phone. We’re sure that the iPhone 14 isn’t selling in high numbers at the moment, but it’s still a powerful option for people who want a cheaper iPhone.
Well, if people want a cheaper iPhone, they can always turn to the iPhone 16e. It’s running a more powerful chip and it has more bells and whistles.
However, Apple probably didn’t do this because of the iPhone 16e
One might think that Apple discontinued the iPhone 14 because of the iPhone 16e. However, that might not be the case. The answer might be the company’s new focus, AI. Apple Intelligence didn’t land on the iPhone 14 series at all. It’s only available on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models.
Well, this could be Apple getting rid of its non-AI-ready iPhones. It probably wants to offer only devices that will push Apple Intelligence on people. So, once it announced its iPhone 16e, which has Apple Intelligence, it got rid of the phone that didn’t have it. While the base iPhone 15 doesn’t come with it, the company can’t get rid of it because it’s still a pretty new phone.
