Android Users Can Now Share Files Via QR Code In Quick Share

Quick Share is undoubtedly one of the best features that allows for faster file sharing between Android devices. In December, Google announced that it would introduce a new way to share files via Quick Share, using a QR code. Fast forward to today, the company is reportedly rolling out QR code-based sharing in Quick Share for Android users worldwide.

Quick Share gets a QR code-based file-sharing feature with the latest update

The latest update to Quick Share is rolling out version 24.49.33 of Google Play Services. While the previous file-sharing method was handy, QR code-based sharing aims to make the whole process much simpler and even faster.

So, how does it work? Well, once you tap the Quick Share option on your phone’s share menu, you’ll see a full screen interface. In the “Send to nearby devices” section, you’ll see the new option that says “Use QR code.

Tapping that option will display a Quick Share-branded QR code on the screen. Do note that your screen will automatically brighten, making it easier for other devices to scan that QR code. The person you’re sharing files with has to open up their Android phone’s camera and scan the QR code.

As soon as the device scans the QR code, a “quickshare.google” link will appear on their phone, and the file-sharing will begin. Yes, it’s that simple. The new feature in Quick Share is equally useful for those looking to share files with multiple users.

The new way of file sharing is much more convenient

If you have struggled to share files because Quick Share couldn’t detect nearby devices, QR code-based sharing should solve that issue. Let’s not forget that using the new feature doesn’t require you to add anyone as a contact or verify devices. All in all, the new feature is suitable for those who don’t want to fiddle around with their sharing settings.
