Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 Gives Pixel Sound Menu A Design Overhaul

Android 16 has already shown that UI elements are going to get some serious design changes. The Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 targets the sound and vibration menu, and it’s a little louder, visually.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 has officially rolled out to users in Google’s beta program. The new update expands on some of the changes made in the first beta. That beta version brought Material 3 Expressive into the mix, essentially changing up the face of Android’s design language on Pixel.

Android’s “sound & vibration” menu in Android 16 Beta 2 got a facelift in the update. The menu looks a lot louder, mainly due to the change in slider design. Those sliders have changed looks across Android 16, though they’re prominently displayed in the sound menu.

The elements have been shifted, too. The output selection has moved to the top of the page with media volume underneath it. The vibration menu has a more prominent shortcut, as well, opening up a different page.

The entire menu looks a little more organized than before, and each section is spaced out accordingly. Those include sound patterns, audio, and system sounds. Everything feels like it’s not in a place that makes sense, as opposed to the thrown-about nature the previous build had.
