The OnePlus 13 is a fantastic phone backed by one of the biggest glow-ups to OxygenOS in recent years, but the next version is now available for testing with the launch of Android 16 Beta for the flagship device.
Announced via the official OnePlus Forums, the OnePlus 13 didn’t actually get a taste of Android 16 Beta 1, so it is jumping straight to Beta 2 with this update. This makes the device the first non-Pixel phone to get a preview of the latest release, which gives us hope for a speedy rollout like with the Android 15 release late last year. It also appears that this release is limited to the OnePlus 13 and does not include the 13R. This could change, though, as the Beta progresses.
No details were shared on whether this Android 16 Beta 2 release adds any new or updated features for OnePlus 13 users. As with just about any preview release, we don’t recommend that people flash or sideload on their sole handset. Many early releases of OxygenOS in the past have been rife with issues, and the experience can be barebones when compared directly to the stable version.

OnePlus has confirmed several known issues – but there may be more – than intrepid installers will have to contend with, including the inability to adjust font weight, the device restarts when connected to Bluetooth headsets, camera UI lag and focus problems, plus freezes and lag in certain scenarios. While we’d never be confident enough to say you should go out and try a release, this doesn’t sound great at this stage. However, developers can get to grips with an early build of Android 16 on the OnePlus 13, at the very least.
⚠ Known Issues ⚠
Unable to close the version update pop-up after upgrading to the DPP version.
Font weight settings cannot be adjusted.
Device may restart when answering a call using Bluetooth headsets.
Lag and display errors in the camera viewfinder and thumbnail in certain scenarios.
Blurry or unclear camera viewfinder in some cases.
Camera crashes when switching to Macro mode with the rear camera.
Crashes and lag after enabling Ultra Steady mode.
Display error in the camera viewfinder during video recording in specific scenarios.
Screen may freeze when tapping the accessibility shortcut button on the home screen.
Lag observed when locking the screen.
Because of these problems, there are ways to roll back to stable Android 15 and OxygenOS 15. Doing so will wipe any and all on-device information and files, so proceed with caution if you are itching to try the Android 16 Beta on your OnePlus 13.
