Analyst Predicts Decent First-Year Sales For Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 hasn’t been announced yet, but analysts are already giving predictions on how good US sales are going to be. Analyst Mat Piscatella has taken to Bluesky to share his predictions, noting that he predicts strong sales of the console within the first year.

It’s worth noting that Piscatella is only calculating sales for the US market, and not globally. So year-one numbers could be very different on a worldwide scale. The Nintendo Switch 2 is a highly anticipated game console and the follow-up to the incredibly successful Nintendo Switch. With how successful the original Nintendo Switch has been, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have big shoes to fill. Can Nintendo capture the same lightning with the second coming of the Switch family?

That remains to be seen, but Piscatella predicts that Nintendo will end the year with a respectable number.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales in the US to reach 4.3 million in the first year

It’s worth remembering that this is just a prediction. Piscatella isn’t saying this is exactly how many units Nintendo will sell within the Switch 2’s first year. That being said, Piscatella says he “has Nintendo’s next hardware device selling 4.3 million units in the US in 2025.”

He also states that he thinks the Nintendo Switch 2 will be one-third of all console hardware sales in the US within the same timeframe. Still, he expects the PS5 to remain the number-one-selling console this year. 4.3 million units may or may not sound like a lot, especially if you consider that the original Nintendo Switch sold closer to 5 million units within its first year. But there’s always a possibility that Nintendo’s sales are lower or higher than this.

Nintendo could face hardware constraints

In addition to the sales numbers, Piscatella is also predicting that Nintendo could face hardware constraints. This would follow a surge in demand for the console once it’s released. Piscatella says he believes the hardware constraints could last for a few months after launch. Piscatella says he’ll have a full outlook later this month, but these are some preliminary predictions.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has leaked several times in the past few months, so there’s a good chance that Nintendo is getting ready to reveal it. Though, a launch is almost certainly still months away.
