Alleged Samsung Galaxy Watch Classic 8 Listed On EBay, A Month Ahead Of Release

Leaked renders and furtive manufacturing photographs are common when it comes to new devices, and these leaks form a part of the hype for every new smartwatch and smartphone. But even with that in mind, it’s rare to see an unrevealed device on eBay. Well, that’s exactly what one seller is claiming to have gotten their hands on, as there’s a public eBay listing for the unreleased Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

If this is truly a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, it confirms a lot of rumors and leaks from the past few months. But listed at the startlingly low starting price of $150, we have to wonder how the seller got their hands on this device, and how long the listing will be up for.

Samsung is supposedly bringing an Ultra look to its classiest watch

It’s easy to be a bit lazy when popping an item on eBay, and only supply a few cursory images for buyer. Not so where this supposed Galaxy Watch 8 Classic seller is concerned. Perhaps worried about the authenticity of their claim, eBay seller amonste_92 has been sure to add a number of images from all angles of the device, reinforcing their claim (via Max Jambor).

And we must say, it’s a compelling one. The images show the device from all angles, and even go as far as to include shots of the watch pairing with a smartphone, the back of the watch, and the box it came in. Looking at all the images, it seems as if this particular variant has a 46mm casing, with 64GB of storage, and an LTE connection. It seems as if the seller attempted pairing, but wasn’t able to complete the process.

In terms of design, the device here looks very similar to renders released a few weeks ago. Broadly speaking, it takes a lot of design cues from last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra, with a squared-circle body, but throws in the iconic Galaxy Watch Classic rotating bezel on top of it. It’s a curious combination, and your opinion on it will vary for sure. However, it does reinforce a sense of familial belonging with the Galaxy Watch Ultra from last year, and could be part of Samsung’s new design philosophy for the Galaxy Watch.

There’s also a large speaker grill, just like the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and, for the first time in a Galaxy Watch Classic, a crown button between the two usual buttons. It’s definitely a big departure from previous watches in its class.

We highly suspect this listing will not last the six days the auction is set to last, as Samsung may take it down as quickly as possible. However, this is likely to be our very best view of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic before it’s expected to be revealed at Samsung’s early-July event alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7.
