A First Look At Google Discover’s Desktop Interface

If you’re using Android phones or tablets, Google Discover is the best way to get lots of curated information at a glance. Sometimes, you might even see your social media post pop up in there. As with any feature, some people may like Google Discover, some may not. If you are among those who love it, there’s some good news. It seems Google has started rolling out the Discover feed to desktop, though it’s currently only available to users in select countries.

Google Discover on desktop will look and feel different than the mobile version

Folks over at Android Authority yesterday spotted a post from X (formerly Twitter) user Damien Andell, showcasing the new look of Google Discover on desktop. Per the report, some users from Australia and New Zealand have started seeing the Discover feed on the Google homepage, right below the search bar.

If you’d like to check whether the desktop version of Google Discover is available to you, head to this link. The news outlet managed to get the feature working on desktop, as shown in the screenshot below. When your window is maximized, you’ll reportedly see an “At a glance” section on the Google homepage.

You can also customize the Discover results by clicking the vertical three-dot menu, like you do on mobile or tablet. That’s not all; you’ll be able to choose from three different options—Finance, Sports, and Weather.

Well, there are some visible differences between the desktop and mobile versions of Google Discover. LinkedIn user Nicola Agius shared that the images on the desktop version are less prominent than the mobile version. They’re visible in a square box to the left. The company may officially unveil the desktop version today at the I/O event

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Google Discover on desktop, but it’s certainly the first time we have seen it in action. At the Search Central Live event in Madrid last month, Google announced that it’ll be expanding Discover. It seems Google is just doing that. Not to forget, Google kicks off its annual I/O event today, where it might showcase the desktop version of Discover.
