Google Gemini has become part of the daily lives of many thanks to the different things it can do. More recently, some reports hinted that Gemini might get video generation capabilities. Not only has Google made the AI assistant useful, but it has also provided different ways to access it on Android devices. Two common ways to access Gemini AI are Circle to Search and Gemini Live. Now, it appears that a new way to access Google Gemini could be as simple as selecting text.
You might soon be able to access Gemini AI on Android devices by selecting the text
The news comes via Android Authority, which reported finding a new way to access Gemini on Android devices. They spotted this new change when digging through the Google app beta version 16.8.31.sa.arm64. To access Gemini in a new way, you have to select the text you may have questions about. Once you select the text, tap on the three vertical dots to open the text selection menu, where you’ll see a new option called “Ask Gemini.”
In addition, tapping on the “Ask Gemini” option would trigger the AI chatbot. That’s when Gemini will provide you with more information about the selected text. You can check the video attached below to get an idea of how this would work. At the time of testing, the publication found the feature to be working flawlessly on different browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Samsung Internet.
Not every app has a text selection menu
Since not every app uses a text selection menu, it’s unclear which apps will offer the new way to access Gemini. It’s worth noting that Google hasn’t rolled out this feature to the stable version of the Google app just yet. However, we expect to see it in action on every Android device soon. Speaking of the new features, a recent update to the Gemini app on iOS has added lock screen widgets.
