Sony’s new Xperia 1 VII puts a major focus on AI-powered camera features, including AI Camerawork for subject tracking, Auto Framing for dynamic cropping, and enhanced stabilization for smooth, pro-level videos. A series of official promo and behind-the-scenes videos highlight how Sony’s engineers brought these features to life, reinforcing the phone’s appeal for mobile creators ahead of its June 4, 2025 release.
Sony announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, just the other day. For the most part, the phone looks like its predecessor and feels similar to other flagship phones launching in 2025. However, the cameras are where it makes a difference. If you’re eyeing the Xperia 1 VII, then you’ll want to check out these Sony promo videos that showcase the phone’s camera features.
Sony Xperia 1 VII camera feature videos
We are in 2025, which means more handset makers are jumping on board the AI bandwagon. Sony is no different. One of the camera features users can look forward to is AI Camerawork. This is where the phone leverages the power of AI to estimate the position of the subject in the frame and keeps it centered on them the whole time.
There are also features like enhanced stabilization. Sony claims this will create “pro-level stable videos,” making it perfect if you are shooting handheld and don’t have a gimbal. Assuming these videos accurately represent the Sony Xperia 1 VII, we are impressed.
Then there’s an Auto Framing feature, which is also powered by AI. It’s kind of similar to AI Camerawork, which helps you track the subject. However, it goes further by cropping the video either horizontally or vertically with your subject right smack in the center. Sony says that this allows users to “stay in the moment” instead of staring at the viewfinder.
Now, if you have about 8 minutes to spare and want to know what went on behind the scenes during the development of the phone’s camera features, the video above features various Sony engineers. These engineers were involved in the design of the phone and the video shows them discussing what went into the design of the phone’s cameras.
Specs and design
It’s a bit of a bummer that Sony isn’t quite the player in the smartphone market these days compared to before. The company did make some pretty great phones back in the day. However, they aren’t quite out of the market yet. So, it’s always a treat to see what the company has been working on whenever they release a new phone.
Like we said, it’s 2025, which means we can expect more handset makers to introduce AI features to their devices. In addition to integrating AI into its cameras, Sony is also using AI in other aspects of the phone, which you can check out in the video above. The company also shares some of the phone’s design and specs in the official design video below.
If you are considering buying the Xperia 1 VII, the phone is available in the EU with a starting price of €1,499. It is currently available for pre-order and is set for a release on the 4th of June.
