With a new model coming soon, Walmart is offering a discount on its already-cheap Google TV streaming stick which currently costs under $13.
Walmart has three Google TV streaming devices under its Onn brand. There’s the “Pro” box, the 4K streaming box, and the 1080p streaming stick. That lowest option is already in impulse-buy territory at $15, but it’s currently even cheaper at just $12.97.
This ongoing deal is just over 10% off, but it’s not often that this device gets discounted in the first place.
While Walmart’s Google TV streaming stick is underwhelming when it comes to performance – it is just $15 after all – this lower price makes it a pretty compelling option just for the included remote alone. Spare Google TV remotes aren’t all that easy to come by, and can occasionally be pricey. A spare Google TV Streamer remote is $20 from the Google Store. Knock-offs on Amazon are often just $8-10, but quality varies. One of the only fairly trustworthy options we’ve seen is a spare remote of Walmart’s own Onn-branded remote (using Google’s reference design) which runs just shy of $15 on Amazon, a couple of dollars over this Walmart deal. Between getting a spare remote that can be used with a Chromecast, Google TV Streamer, or anything else and getting a spare streaming device that’s also very easy to buy, it’s pretty much a no-brainer.
