Veo 2 Rolling Out To More Gemini Advanced Users

Veo 2 Rolling Out To More Gemini Advanced Users

Following last week’s announcement, more Gemini app users subscribed to Advanced are getting access to Veo 2 video generation.

Once available, the model dropdown on Android, iOS, and web will list “Veo 2: Generate videos from text” at the bottom.

Just describe what you want to see, with more details aiding the output. After entering, it will take 1-2 minutes for the 8-second clip to generate. You get a landscape (16:9) video in 720p resolution.

The MP4 can be downloaded to your device, while Gemini offers its usual link-based sharing.

There is a monthly limit on how many clips you can generate, with Gemini alerting users as they approach that. Example prompts include:

  • “small puppy running through a garden filled with thick snow in the early morning sun”
  • “a kitten being introduced to the beach, specifically near the water, and then getting surprised as a wave crashes nearby”
  • “Aerial shot of a grassy cliff onto a sandy beach where waves crash against the shore, a prominent sea stack rises from the ocean near the beach, bathed in the warm, golden light of either sunrise or sunset, capturing the dramatic elevation change and the serene beauty of the Pacific coastline.”

As of today, more Gemini Advanced users have received Veo 2 access, but it’s still not yet widely available. This is rolling out globally. It joins Imagen 3 image generation and the podcast-style Audio Overviews.

In other developments, gemini.google.com has tweaked the design of the model picker to match the mobile app. Introduced yesterday, what you’re currently using is now housed in a pill.
