TikTok Wants You To Stop Using It After 10 PM

TikTok has been labeled one of the most addictive apps of all time, and that has led to some huge controversies. Well, even the company itself has acknowledged that people are obsessed with it. TikTok will encourage you to wind down if you’re using it after 10 PM.

Features like these are welcomed, especially for concerned parents. Obviously, a parent can’t watch their child every second of the day. So, some of the responsibility falls on the companies making these apps. This new feature is part of a collection of additions to TikTok to make it a safer platform.

TikTok will encourage you to wind down after 10 PM

This happens all the time; you hop on your phone at 9 PM for a few videos, and the next time you look up, it’s 2 AM. Time can get away from you, and this is worse for the social media-obsessed teenager. As such, the video-sharing app has a way to get people to put their phone down.

Once the clock strikes 10 PM, TikTok will show a full screen with relaxing music in the background. The screen will have a message encouraging the user to relax and wind down. The hope is that the user will take the advice, put their phone down and go to sleep.

The messages will say things like “Sleep Hours, Unwind with a breathing exercise for a good night’s sleep”, “Relax your mind”, “Inhale”, “Hold”, and “Exhale”. When the screen pops up, it’s rather easy to shoo it away. However, when it comes back, it will be harder to dismiss.

At this point, we don’t know if this is going to work. We all know that TikTok thrives on ad revenue. The more people scrolling through videos, the more money it makes. Telling kids to go to sleep will cut into the company’s cash flow. So, we’re sure that TikTok doesn’t want this tool to be too effective.
