In September 2024, Meta acquired the Threads.com domain name and began redirecting the URL to Threads.net. Today, the company has announced that it is officially relocating the X competitor platform from the website Threads.net to Threads.com. In addition, the social networking giant has introduced a handful of new features to improve the Threads experience on the web.
Threads on the web now has a new address
Talking about the relocation first, Threads on the web now has a new address. Now, you can access the Meta-owned platform by heading to Threads.com instead of Threads.net. The company’s move will make it easier for users to find the website. Starting now, Meta announces that the .net website will redirect you to the .com site instead of the other way around.
Threads is introducing updates that enhance the desktop experience
As for the new features, when using a single column view on a desktop, you can now see your custom feeds at the top of the website, in the same order as they appear on smartphones. You can now access the posts you liked or saved by using the main menu icon. Also, you can now add a column on the desktop by clicking the new column icon on the right-hand side of the page for a faster way to customize your screen.
Furthermore, you can now copy Threads posts as photos as well, which will allow you to paste them into other social networking platforms like Instagram. Additionally, Meta is adding a new “+” button in the bottom right corner of the page to reveal a pop-up composer that follows you as you scroll your feeds. The change allows you to post whenever something inspires you.
Lastly, the tech giant is now testing a new feature that allows you to upload the list of people you follow on other apps to Threads. Notably, the company is first allowing you to import the list of people you follow on X.com, which happens to be the biggest competitor of Threads. That said, Meta said that it’ll continue improving the desktop version of Threads, and it already has more web updates in the works.
