Tons of important events happen to you throughout the year, and you want to bring other people along. While most of us default to group texts or sending letters by mail, Apple has a solution that makes the process of inviting people easier. The company just launched the new Invites app, but not all iPhone users will be able to use it.
This is a pretty nifty app, as it’s an all-in-one solution for sending invites for events. Do you have a birthday party, graduation, or baby shower coming up? This is the perfect app for you to inform everyone you want to invite.
True to its name, Invites lets you send invitations to people who you want to attend an event. When you’re creating an invite, you’re able to customize it using images from your image gallery. Don’t have the perfect image? Don’t worry, you can either use stock photos provided by Apple or use an emoji background. Even if those don’t satisfy your needs, you’ll be able to use Apple’s Image Playground to artificially generate an image for the background.
Once you have the perfect invite created, you’ll be able to sent it off to whoever you want to receive them. Since this is an all-in-one solution, you’ll be able to keep track of who accepts the invite. That’s not all, as people who accept the invite can collaborate and create a shared playlist to be played at the event. Last, but not least, event goers will be able to create a shared album that everyone can view. This way, they’ll all be able to relive the event together.
Apple launched its Invitedsapp, but not everyone can use it
Invites is an amazing app, but if you want to fully utilize it, it’s going to cost you. If you want to create and deal out invites, you’ll need to be subscribed to iCloud+. This is Apple’s cloud service similar to Google One. Starting at $0.99/month, it gives you some perks like additional cloud storage and access to different services.
While it’s a bummer to be locked into a subscription service just to use this app, it’s still a small price to pay. So, if you’re looking to use the Invites app, go to the official iCloud page and choose your plan.
Other than that, the only other thing you’ll need to know is that Invites is restricted to phones with iOS 18+. That’s a pretty big bummer, as this cuts off a large number of iPhones. We’re not sure why this app can’t run on phones running iOS 17. While it’s a great app, it’s not exactly paradigm shifting.
