The Galaxy Z Flip 7 Will Have A (Slightly) Larger Battery Than The Galaxy Z Flip 6

One of the biggest challenges when developing foldable phones is battery capacity. Because of their unique form factor, companies need to decide on how to best integrate the batteries. These types of products typically have notably smaller batteries than traditional smartphones. That said, it appears that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have a larger battery than its predecessor.

Samsung may use a bigger battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 7

As reported by Galaxy Club, Samsung could include a battery with a typical total capacity of 4,300 mAh in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The Korean giant is said to be using two cells with nominal capacities of 2,985 mAh (EB-BF767ABY) and 1,189 mAh (EB-BF766ABY). While the sum of both cells is just under 4,300 mAh, companies often market their devices’ batteries with approximations.

For reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a battery with a typical total capacity of 4,000 mAh, while the sum of the nominal capacities of its internal batteries reaches 3,887 mAh. So, the next-gen model would boast a 7.5% larger battery. Leaks about the device mention a larger foldable internal display. So, a higher-capacity cell was probably necessary to maintain a good battery life throughout the day.

Bigger screens and possible Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

More specifically, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be equipped with a 6.85-inch internal display. This is slightly larger than the 6.7-inch display on the current Galaxy Z Flip 6. The external display is also said to grow up to 4 inches (3.4 inches on the Z Flip 6). Last year, Samsung executives confirmed the company’s intentions to use the Exynos 2500 chip in the phone. However, recent reports suggest that this won’t be possible due to the current yield rate of Samsung Foundry’s 3nm wafers. So, the company could turn to the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC again.

We recently brought you exclusive renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The body of the device will receive more changes in its internal structure than externally. Finally, rumors suggest that Samsung will maintain the same launch price as the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
