TCL Unveils New Phone And Tablet With Advanced NXTPAPER Tech
Contents
Ahead of CES 2025, TCL is announcing its new NXTPAPER 4.0 technology, which powers two new mobile products including the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus, and the TCL 60 XE NXTPAPER 5G. The former is a brand-new tablet with an 11-inch screen, and the latter is a smartphone that borders on the edge of extremely affordable.
Both devices are powered by TCL’s latest version of NXTPAPER, which TCL says is the “future of display technology.” The focus of this new version of the tech according to TCL is to enhance visual clarity and user comfort. With people spending more time looking at screens, TCL saw the need to tackle issues with everyday visual comfort. NXTPAPER 4.0’s approach to these challenges is to improve display clarity and sharpness. It does this partly by using nano-matrix lithography technology.
NXTPAPER 4.0 also has two different comfort modes that users can choose from. The first is called Smart Eye Comfort Mode, and the second is Personalized Eye Comfort Mode. Both of these will adjust the brightness, color temperature, and contrast to suit your current activity without degrading the visual quality. With such a big focus on ensuring user-eye comfort, it’s not surprising to see this tech being used in TCL’s two new mobile devices.
TCL NXTPAPER 4.0 is at the heart of the company’s new tablet
People are spending more and more time on their mobile devices these days. As such, it’s important that longer user sessions are less likely to result in eye discomfort from staring at those displays all day. To that end, the NXTPAPER 11 Plus (an update to its 2023 model) tablet seeks to provide users with an experience that isn’t going to put undue strain on their vision.
TCL says it was designed to adapt to the changing needs of the modern user. Whether you’re a working professional who wants a mobile device for work or someone who simply enjoys watching Netflix for several hours in a row. The tablet features an 11.5-inch display with a 2.2K resolution. So it’s more than big enough for anything you plan to do with it. The NXTPAPER 11 Plus also makes use of AI. In fact, this is TCL’s first AI-powered tablet on the market.
Beyond the two eye comfort modes, AI also plays a role in several other functions. Including Google’s Circle to Search. There’s also a Text Assist feature for things like helping you write emails. TCL doesn’t mention much else about the specs, but it does say the display has a 120Hz refresh rate. That will be good for a smooth visual experience. From everyday browsing to gaming. TCL hasn’t announced a price or when the tablet will be available. However, it does tell consumers to “stay tuned” for these details.
The TCL 60 XE NXTPAPER has a simulated e-ink mode
As you can see, TCL is all about improving eye comfort on these new devices thanks to NXTPAPER 4.0. As such, the new TCL 60 XE NXTPAPER comes with a simulated e-ink display mode. Called ‘Max Ink Mode,’ when users turn this on the display visually appears more paper-like. Promoting not only a boosted battery life but also reading sessions that are easier on the eyes. Users can turn this on with the dedicated NXTPAPER Key.
Speaking of the display, it’s also 6.8 inches in size and has a 120Hz refresh rate with an FHD+ resolution. Additionally, it has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage space. In terms of the camera, TCL has used a 50MP sensor for the back and a 32MP sensor for the front. The phone will be available in Canada in May, and the US later this year. It has a retail price of $199.99.
While this is already a pretty affordable phone, TCL wants to offer something even less expensive. So it’s announcing the K32 5G. A device that launches for under $100 in September. On top of all this, TCL is also announcing two projectors – the $499 Projector A1, and then the Playcube which TCL says “sets a new standard for portable entertainment.”
TCL has two remaining mobile devices it’s announcing at CES. One of those is the Linkport IK511. A brand-new 5G USB dongle headed to T-Mobile this year for $96. The other is the Linkhub 5G HH516, which is a 5G router capable of 7.2Gbps Wi-Fi 7 speeds.
