OPPO is set to finally announce the successor to the popular Find N3 foldable, on February 20 at an event in Singapore. Ahead of that launch event, we’ve been able to check out the OPPO Find N5, and do have it in hand. However, we are limited in what we can show you, right now.
We can show you how thin it is, and how invisible that crease is. Let’s start with that crease. This caused a bit of an uproar when OPPO shared what the crease looked like on X last week. Because it was being compared to a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 that had been used for a few months. So it wasn’t really “new”. Now, we don’t have brand new foldable devices here to compare it to, but we can compare it to some other popular devices. Below, you’ll see the OPPO Find N5 compared to the HONOR Magic V3. I had to turn up the exposure while editing this photo, to really show you how the crease looks.
As you can see, the crease is nearly invisible on the OPPO Find N5. If you look hard enough, you can see it though. On the HONOR Magic V3, you can see a very tiny crease. Before the Find N5, I’d say the Magic V3 had the smallest and least noticeable crease. So to see such a huge difference here is actually impressive.
Below, you can see how it looks with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and side-by-side with the OPPO Find N3 (OnePlus Open). First up is the OPPO Find N5, then the HONOR Magic V3, then the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. With the last picture being the Find N3 and Find N5.
This foldable is unbelievably thin
OPPO has shared loads of images, comparing the thickness of the Find N5 to different things, like two quarters, a pencil and a stack of credit cards. But you really can’t appreciate it until you have it in your hands. OPPO is touting that this is the world’s thinnest foldable, which means it is also thinner than the Magic V3. HONOR previously had the world’s thinnest foldable which was 4.4mm when opened, and just over 9mm when closed. And this is somehow even thinner.
This phone is so thin in fact, that it was hard to get my camera to focus correctly on how thin it was. Now the real question here is, how comfortable will this phone be to hold? I talked quite a bit about how the Magic V3 was so thin it was uncomfortable to hold. However, their included case made it much easier. Will that be the case with the OPPO Find N5? We’ll have to wait and see.
