Last week, we heard that the Galaxy S25 Edge would be announced on May 13. Now, according to Ice Universe over on Weibo (because his X account is still hacked), he’s saying that the device will be available for sale starting in late May. However, Ice is not providing any sort of specific date.
Considering the announcement is set to happen on May 13 – which we’re expecting a press release, and maybe a video, but now a full-blown event – it would likely go on sale on May 22 or 23. Typically, with big flagships like this, Samsung will open pre-orders right after the announcement, with them shipping the following Thursday or Friday.
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to be just 6.4mm thick
Despite showing off the Galaxy S25 Edge at Unpacked and again at MWC in March, Samsung hasn’t really confirmed many details about the device. Including its thickness. Of course, we can see from those events that it is indeed thinner than the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup.
Leaks and rumors do point to the Galaxy S25 Edge being about 5.84mm thick. That’s decently thinner compared to the Galaxy S25 at 7.2mm and the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 8.2mm. It’s also rumored to have a smaller display, around 6.62 inches, with a 1080p resolution. Of course, it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is a slightly overclocked version. However, we are expecting Samsung to use the 7-core version found in the OPPO Find N5. Given the small amount of space in the Galaxy S25 Edge, it’ll be needed.
The downside to the Galaxy S25 Edge is, the battery size. It’s rumored to be only 3,900 mAh. If Samsung is not adopting Silicon-Carbon, it definitely won’t be very large. This would be the perfect phone for Samsung to experiment with new technologies like Silicon-Carbon batteries. But the Galaxy Note 7 still looms large over the company.
