In the smartphone segment, Samsung usually launches all members of a lineup at a single event. However, the company changed this strategy a bit since the birth of the Galaxy S FE devices. It also extended it to its foldables with last year’s Galaxy Z Fold SE. Now, a report claims that Samsung will not launch its first tri-fold smartphone alongside the seventh-gen Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models.
Taking into account background, Samsung will likely launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 during the second Unpacked event sometime in H2 2025. We might also see the affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE on the same date. That said, apparently, the company’s most innovative upcoming foldable will be a bit longer to come.
Samsung’s first tri-fold phone won’t arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, tipster claims
Reliable tipster Max Jambor claimed on X/Twitter that Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone will not arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Instead, the device “will be unveiled at a later point in time,” the post adds. There are no more specific details on a timeframe for the product to be officially announced. However, the South Korean giant typically releases its Galaxy S FE models between September and October. So, it’s possible that the company will hold the unveiling during that timeframe. However, this is merely conjecture, with no confirmation yet.
In a later post, the tipster says that Samsung could tease its tri-fold phone during the launch of the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7. However, it won’t be an actual launch as such.
According to reports, Samsung’s tri-fold device will debut a new product lineup called “Galaxy G.” It’s a bit of a surprise that the company might not be using the Galaxy Z moniker that all of its foldables have been carrying for years. Not much is known about the device, but its display is said to be 9.96 inches when unfolded. Lastly, it’s said to have a form factor where the left and right sections of the screen fold inwards. This will set it apart from the Huawei Mate X, which has a “zigzag” foldable form factor.
