Summary
- Samsung is developing a significant update to its Galaxy AI “Now Brief” feature, addressing user complaints about a lack of customization.
- This upcoming enhancement will allow users to create custom cards for Now Brief, enabling them to define names, icons, descriptions, set specific display times and recurrence schedules, and link cards to various applications.
- The feature is currently hidden in One UI 8’s Modes and Routines, suggesting it will be a part of the next major Android release, One UI 8, which is already in beta.
Now Brief is one of those Galaxy AI features in One UI 7 that Samsung demoed on its YouTube channel, highlighting what users can do with it. While the demo looks impressive, our reviewers don’t have many positive things to say about the Galaxy AI’s Now Brief feature. And one of the major reasons for this is the lack of customization, which makes it feel like it doesn’t truly work for you.

Now, to address the customization issue in Now Brief, Samsung seems to have started working on a feature that gives users a greater level of freedom to choose what they want to see on the summary page. In addition to launching an audio version of Now Brief, Samsung is planning to allow users to create custom cards for Now Brief.
How will support for custom cards in Now Brief be useful?
As first spotted by SammyGuru, support for custom cards in Now Brief means users will be able to create their own Now Brief cards with names, icons, and descriptions. Not only that, but it’ll also allow you to set the date and time when those cards should appear and specify if you want them to repeat on a schedule (via Android Authority). In addition to putting up these details, these custom cards will also allow you to choose which apps you want them to open.

This is currently a hidden feature in the latest version of Modes and Routines on One UI 8, and this is a big enough hint for us to believe that Samsung has plans to release this functionality in its next major Android release. The One UI 8 beta program is live, so we might soon see the feature in action in one of the beta builds in the coming days.
It isn’t clear how soon it’ll arrive, but despite being able to enable the feature, folks over at SammyGuru couldn’t get it working. This suggests the feature is still in an early stage of development. So, the South Korean giant might add more changes to how the feature works before shipping it to the general public.
It might take a few more weeks or even months, depending on how old your Galaxy handset is, for the One UI 8 update to become available on your phone. In the meantime, you can try some of the best Galaxy AI features to get the most out of your Samsung phone.
