If you’ve ever owned a Galaxy device, you’ve likely heard Samsung’s “Over the Horizon” song as a part of the default ringtone on your device. For 2025 and just in time for the Galaxy S25 launch, Samsung is giving “Over the Horizon” a jazzy reimagining.
“Over the Horizon” has been one of Samsung’s default ringtones for years on Galaxy devices, and has also served as a backing track for the company’s Unpacked events. For 2025, Samsung is giving the song a new, jazz-inspired revamp with a new rendition and new instruments.
Samsung explains:
Samsung Electronics’ signature Galaxy brand sound, “Over the Horizon,” is back in 2025, reimagined through the dynamic rhythms and soulful harmonies of big band jazz. For 2025, the vibrant tempo of big band jazz weaves the journey of One UI into the passage of time and the rhythm of everyday life. This rendition evokes an ideal day and a hopeful future, brought to life through vivid instrumental combinations and lively grooves. The 2025 arrangement was created by Los Angeles-based pianist and composer Jacob Mann, with recording and mastering in Dolby Atmos overseen by engineer Will Kennedy.
The 3-minute song was posted to Samsung’s YouTube channel, and follows the tradition of giving the sound a yearly revamp. In 2024, Samsung’s refresh featured the Seoul National University Gugak Orchestra.
It remains to be seen if we’ll see anything remotely like this in the Galaxy S25’s software, but at the very least you can bet that it’ll be the theme throughout next week’s Galaxy Unpacked launch event.
Samsung has reservations open now for the Galaxy S25 series, with a $50 credit when you pre-order and up to $1,200+ in savings. Reservations are free, and there’s no obligation to actually buy a device if you sign up, but there’s no other time you can get that $50 credit.
