Samsung has been busy rolling out One UI 7 for its older flagship devices. Within 2–3 weeks, the company pushed the update for all its compatible flagship Galaxy S and foldable phones. Amidst all this, the company has not forgotten about the May 2025 security patch, seeding it for the Galaxy S25 units in the US right on the first day of the month. Samsung is now expanding the update to more regions and has outlined the changes included in its May 2025 patch.

The Galaxy S25’s AYDA firmware has gone live in Thailand, India, and other parts of Asia (via @tarunvats33). A wider rollout to Europe and unlocked units in the US should begin later this week. If you own Samsung’s latest flagship, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to grab the May 2025 security patch.
Besides the latest monthly patch, the 670MB+ update does not appear to contain any major changes. The Galaxy S25’s April firmware arrived a few weeks later than usual, so it makes sense that the May build is light on changes.
Samsung has also published the security bulletin for the May patch, revealing fixes for over 20 high-severity vulnerabilities. It does not contain fixes for any critical vulnerabilities.
This is not the big Galaxy S25 camera update you were hoping for
While some rumors suggested the next Galaxy S25 firmware would focus on camera improvements, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Samsung usually rolls out a camera-focused update in June or July for its flagship devices, addressing common imaging performance issues. So, you might have to wait a couple more months. But going by Samsung’s track record for such updates, don’t expect it to improve the Galaxy S25’s camera performance radically.
Leaks indicate that the Android 16-based One UI 8 might arrive earlier than usual. So, there’s a possibility that the company may bundle the camera improvements with it.
Since Samsung is still focused on rolling out One UI 7 to its older flagship devices, those models will likely receive this month’s security patch a few weeks later than usual.
