According to a reliable leaker, one Android brand is working on a new gaming tablet that has a compact 9-inch display, but the OLED panel we’ve all been waiting for.
Small Android tablets are seeing a minor renaissance as of late, with the global expansion of the Lenovo Legion Tab bringing the form factor to a lot more users without giving up on performance. But if there’s one big complaint about the Legion Tab, it’s that the display is an LCD panel instead of the often-preferred OLED.
That’s why a new rumor from Digital Chat Station is so enticing.
The generally reliable leaker claims that Redmagic, a brand best known for gaming smartphones, is preparing to launch a new Android gaming tablet powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and offering a “custom” 9-inch OLED display with a high refresh rate. It also has the “largest battery” among this new wave of smaller Android tablets.
Redmagic already sells a 10.9-inch gaming tablet from $499, but that has an LCD display. For gamers, though, that is a pretty compelling tablet with a built-in cooling fan, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and a huge battery with 80W fast charging. A smaller model with an OLED display could be even more exciting, though it’s unclear when this tablet might launch, as well as where it might launch. The same leaker previously hinted at a competitor to the Legion Tab launching in June, and this Redmagic device certainly fits the bill.
