Summary: Otterbox has announced the Commuter Series case for Google’s Pixel 9a, complete with 3x the drop protection thanks to its Drop+ technology. The case comes in two colors and is equipped with textured sides for better grip, as well as port covers to keep out dust and dirt.
Google’s Pixel 9a phone is finally official, and you’re probably going to want a new case, like these ones from Otterbox, to protect it. At the very least, it’s worth considering if you want to ensure your phone stays in excellent condition. Not everyone likes cases on their phones. And that’s understandable. Phones these days (the Pixel 9a included) are designed very well and a lot of them look great without a case.
Almost to the point that it hurts to put a case on them because it takes away from the phone’s natural beauty. Here’s the thing, though – A case isn’t always there to make the phone look good. A lot of the time, you put a phone inside of a case because you want it to continue looking good outside of the case. More importantly, you want to ensure the phone doesn’t get severely damaged if you happen to drop it. That’s where cases from Otterbox come in.
Otterbox cases were purpose-built for one goal, and that’s protecting your phone from drops.
Otterbox introduces the Commuter Series case for the Google Pixel 9a
The Commuter Series cases from Otterbox are a staple in the company’s lineup as they’ve been around for years. You can basically expect a Commuter Series case for every major phone that launches each year. As long as those phones come from Samsung, Google, or Apple. You’ll also find a few outliers like OnePlus, Nokia, Motorola, and T-Mobile’s Revvl 6x.
For Google, the Pixela 9a is the latest to join Otterbox’s lineup. The case comes in two colors and it retails for $39.95. It’s also interestingly halfway between the thin and thick profiles that Otterbox uses to measure how thick its cases are. In other words, it’s not too thin and not too thick. It’s just right. As for colors, Otterbox is offering Blue and Black. The Commuter Series case is rated for three times as many drops as military standard, and there’s a nifty little port cover to block dust and dirt.
Take our advice and make sure this is sealed up when the port isn’t being used. The case also has textured sides to make gripping the phone easier. That should help users better prevent drops.
There’s a screen protector too
If you’re someone who cares just as much about protecting the screen as you do the phone itself, Otterbox will have a screen protector available as well. These will also retail for $39.95. What’s nice about these is that they have a 9H hardness. So, you can rest assured that they’ll do a great job at protecting your screen. They’re also fingerprint-resistant which means you should have to spend less time wiping the display down.
