- Quick Share now shows a preview of the file before the recipient accepts the transfer.
- The update is rolling out via Google Play Services version 25.14 to Android devices.
- This follows a February update that enabled file sharing over mobile data or Wi-Fi.
File sharing across Android devices has improved significantly over the past few years, mainly thanks to Quick Share. With Quick Share, Android has its own version of Apple’s AirDrop, allowing users to send files, photos, or videos to other Android (and Windows) devices regardless of brand. Google regularly updates Quick Share with new features, and now the company is rolling out another small tweak to improve the user experience.

As spotted by Android Authority, Quick Share will now show recipients a preview of the file they’re about to receive before they accept the transfer. Until now, the Quick Share dialog would only show the file type and number of files (e.g., “1 image”) without displaying the actual content.
Instead, it showed a generic icon until the transfer was complete. However, with the new update, the recipient will see a quick visual preview of the file before accepting the transfer.

This feature is especially useful when receiving files from unknown users or in cases where someone accidentally sends the wrong file. You’ll now be able to decline incorrect or unwanted transfers immediately.
The update is rolling out with the latest version of Google Play Services (version 25.14). While I haven’t seen it active on my device yet, the feature began rolling out on April 14, 2025, as outlined in Google’s official support document, so it should reach more users in the coming days.
This is the second tweak Google has made to Quick Share in recent months. Back in February 2025, Google rolled out an upgrade for Quick Share that enabled transfers over mobile data or Wi-Fi for uninterrupted sharing.
