Pixel Studio 1.5 Adds People Generation, Faster Sticker Creation, Light Theme

As announced with last week’s March Feature Drop, Pixel Studio 1.5 is required to generate images and stickers of people, while there are a handful of other changes.

Version 1.5 starts by adding a third FAB (floating action button) to Pixel Studio’s homescreen. “Create a sticker” at the left joins the pill-shaped “Create” button and generating an image from an existing photo. Your options are “Describe your sticker” and “Make one from existing photo.”

Meanwhile, tapping the account menu in the top-right corner reveals a new “Light” Theme option, with “System default” also available.

When you first tap Create after updating, Pixel Studio throws up a “Now you can create images of people” prompt. Google notes how this “feature is being fine-tuned, so you might get unexpected results or blocked images.” A teardown string reveals how “Realistic images of celebrities or children can’t be generated.”

Google has also introduced “new fun styles to Pixel Studio, so making expressive creations has gotten even easier. You can select a style or just describe it.” These rolled out as a server-side update (and is already available on version 1.4). The additions are: Ukiyo-e, Stained Glass, Colorful, Children’s Book, and Minimalism.

The Google Play release notes also mention how “Pixel Studio is now available in Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria,” with English, Japanese. and German supported.
