The OnePlus Watch 3 is finally official with improvements in several key areas. Last year’s model proved to be a worthy rival to wearables from Samsung and Google, integrating a neat system that extended its battery life. The OnePlus Watch 3 is built on those foundations but taken a step further.
OnePlus Watch 3 design fits any occasion
Starting with the design, OnePlus has refined it to achieve a more premium look and finish. The stainless steel chassis has a sturdy titanium bezel. The device seems to be betting on slightly straighter lines than the OnePlus 2, which gives it a more “rugged” look. However, it doesn’t look as rugged as a Galaxy Watch Ultra, for example. The wearable’s design is quite well suited to any occasion, be it the gym or a party.
The LTPO AMOLED display is now larger, growing to 1.5 inches. It features a crisp 466 x 466 px resolution and up to 2,200 nits of peak brightness to improve outdoor visibility. OnePlus applied a layer of sapphire crystal over the display for protection. Another welcome addition to the OnePlus Watch 3’s design is a proper rotating crown. This will allow you to easily scroll through the WearOS menus. The watch has dimensions of 46.6 x 47.6 x 11.75 mm and weighs 49.7 grams—without a strap.
Dual OS and chip for better battery life than ever
The company has kept the “dual OS-dual chip” approach of the previous generation. The OnePlus 3 runs Wear OS and a low-power custom RTOS, depending on what you need at the time. The “Smart” battery mode intelligently switches between the two modes, helping to save quite a bit of power. In fact, OnePlus claims that its new smartwatch can offer up to five days of battery life. There are Snapdragon W5+ and BES2800 chips in charge of each OS.
Regarding the battery, the firm integrated a 631 mAh cell—26% larger than the previous generation. There is also 32GB of onboard storage to download apps and save music. There are new features, including remote control of some functions on OnePlus’ phones. For example, you can scroll through videos and control playback on your phone from your wrist.
Health monitoring improvements
Health monitoring is a key section in any smartwatch, especially in the premium segment. OnePlus is aware of this and has added several improvements. The company has revamped the sensor system by integrating a wrist temperature sensor, an 8-channel optical heart rate sensor, and a 16-channel pulse oximeter that can operate continuously. You can now also monitor your vascular health through ECG measurements.
To make things easier for you, there’s a “60-Second Health Check-In.” This is OnePlus’ take on the “fitness summaries” that other big brands are including in their wearables. This feature will provide you with instantaneous data on your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, wrist temperature, sleep quality, vascular age, and mental well-being. The option isn’t available out of the box, but OnePlus says it’s coming during Q3 2025.
The company has also updated its OHealth app for a more user-friendly experience. The way it displays data is now more intuitive at a glance. There’s also support for tracking over 100 sports and fitness activities.
