OnePlus has just announced a new “Slim Magnetic Power Bank” that offers a boost to your battery without a ton of bulk, but costs $70.
Battery banks are nothing new, but Apple’s introduction of MagSafe offered a new form factor with magnetic designs that could latch onto your phone and deliver wireless charging as a quick and easy way to fill up your phone on the go. Qi2 opened the door to bringing that to more devices. Many of these, however, are very bulky.
OnePlus is now selling its own “Slim Magnetic Power Bank” which aims to address that issue.
The new power bank measures just 9.6cm (3.77-inch) by 6.9cm (2.71-inches) and, most importantly, is just 9mm thin. That’s roughly the same size as your average smartphone in a case. It’s not the thinnest magnetic power bank out there – it takes just seconds on Amazon to find a thinner one, with many being far cheaper – but it’s nice to have a slim option from a recognizable brand. OnePlus says it managed the thin design with the use of “high energy density battery cells” and points out that it charges over USB-C and works with its own magnetic cases for the OnePlus 13, but also MagSafe on iPhone, and other Android devices with magnetic cases. As a reminder, the OnePlus 13 doesn’t have magnets built in, so you’ll need a case to use this accessory.
The OnePlus “Slim Magnetic Power Bank” is available starting today for $69.99, and will apparently only be available in the US.
OnePlus will be selling it in a bundle with the OnePlus 13 from March 25 through April 30 where the power bank and a magnetic case are included with the phone for free (as long as you skip a trade-in). That will be available from OnePlus.com starting at $849. If you recently purchased a OnePlus 13, you’ll also get a coupon through your OnePlus account for $20 off the power bank and $10 off a case.
This power bank launched in China late last year, and it’s also the second power bank OnePlus has put out recently, as the company partnered with Sharge last year for a clever 2-in-1 power bank with a built-in cable and a wall charger, both of which support faster charging speeds.
