To say that Samsung’s rollout of the Android 15-based One UI 7 update has been slow would be an understatement. Following multiple delays along the way, Samsung finally set a mid-April rollout date for the new update, only to pause it shortly after. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for the company to restart the process for the Galaxy S24 series and the Z Fold/Z Flip 6 foldables. It’s now the turn of Galaxy S23 owners in the US to get a taste of One UI 7, with some carrier-locked versions picking up the update just ahead of the weekend.

Reporting by SamMobile reveals that US Cellular and Xfinity Mobile are currently rolling out the update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Meanwhile, the update is also available for the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 5/Z Flip 5 on Verizon. So it should only be a matter of time until the rest of the pack, including the unlocked variants, get the coveted update (via Droid Life).
Samsung rolled out One UI 7 for the Galaxy S23 series earlier this week, though the update was limited to South Korea. A quick look across online forums suggests that tablets like the Galaxy Tab S9 have already received the update, while the Galaxy Tab S10 joined the club a couple of days ago. South Korea is typically the first to get Samsung’s new software, though other markets, including the US, follow just days later.
A couple of changes to look forward to
If your Galaxy S23 or Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5 hasn’t been updated to One UI 7 yet, head over to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install if the update is available. You will find a handful of changes with the Galaxy S23’s One UI 7 update, though the list is not particularly long. While Samsung has borrowed UI inspiration from Apple’s iOS, there are enough changes here for users switching from One UI 6.1.
For starters, the app drawer will be vertical by default with the new software, although Samsung allows users to revert to the horizontal layout. Samsung’s Galaxy AI is a big part of the equation here, as was the case with One UI 6.1 last year. Verizon’s changelog for the Galaxy S23’s One UI 7 update mentions home screen improvements, the Now Bar, AI Select, Writing and Drawing Assist, plus some Google Gemini-related changes.
