The CMF Phone (1) from Nothing was a surprising release last year with its affordable price tag and overall stellar experience. Now, the CMF Phone (2) is being teased with a potentially questionable change.
On a forum and social media post, Nothing has dropped the first big teaser for the CMF Phone (2). The brief 4-second video shows the signature orange color of the CMF brand with components from a smartphone behind it. A single camera is shown with a cutout of some kind beneath it, but nothing more.
It’s a cryptic teaser, and while it’s clearly for the CMF Phone (2), it raises questions.
Will this sequel only have a single camera? Phone (1) had a dual camera system, though the secondary sensor was effectively worthless being a 2MP depth camera. Ditching it wouldn’t have much of an effect on the affordable device, but it also seems possible that this single camera we’re seeing is actually an addition to the existing ones. The teaser also hints that this device will have camera changes as it says it is “in search of the perfect shot.”
In fact, that third sensor feels rather likely, as leaked images of what is claimed to be a “CMF Phone (2) prototype” shows the same camera sensor alongside the existing dual sensors.
Whatever the company has in mind, Nothing says this device is “coming soon.”
