Nothing Shows Off Phone (3a)’s Pixel-Looking Cameras As Leak Details ‘Essential Space’

In its latest teaser, Nothing is showing off the design and camera of its standard Nothing Phone (3a) while more leaks detail an upcoming software feature.

Over the past week or so, Nothing has been showing off the design of the Phone (3a) Pro, its upgraded but still mid-range device, without talking much about the “base” model. The latest teaser finally shows off the standard Nothing Phone (3a) design officially, with a more understated look and a familiar camera module.

Like other Nothing Phones before it, the standard Phone (3a) in this teaser has the transparent backing and futuristic look, while also having three “Glyph” lighting modules around the camera.

Visually, the main difference between the Nothing Phone (3a) and its Pro counterpart is the camera. Where the Pro has a very large camera module, the standard device has something much more subdued. And, as we pointed out with prior leaks, the design looks a whole lot like it was ripped off of a Pixel – not that that’s a bad thing by any means. The change comes primarily as a result of the new third camera sensor that’s been added to the device.

This comes right as yet-another leak offers more details on a piece of Nothing’s software. As shown in a previous video leak, “Essential Space” is a new feature coming to Phone (3a) series, and SmartPrix has shared a few details on how it might work.

Screenshots allegedly from a Phone (3a) device show this feature as being able to capture content using the “Essential Key” and including voice notes with the screenshot. In the full “Essential Space” app, the report claims that AI will be used to sort images, recordings, and text to help create useful information.

Features detailed in the report include:

  • Camera Capture: Within the camera app, a single press of the Essential Key sends the photo to Essential Space, where it’s analyzed and stored for later retrieval.
  • Smart Collections: Uses AI for sorting images, audio, and text.
  • Smart Collections: AI automatically recognizes and categorizes content (images, audio, text), eliminating the need for manual organization. Imagine screenshots actually being useful again!
  • Focused Search: Find exactly what you are looking for.
  • Flip to Record: Another way of recording notes.

The report claims that “Essential Space” is still being developed, but that a version of it will launch with the Phone (3a) series.

We’ll see more soon enough, as Nothing is set to launch the Phone (3a) series on March 4.
