Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Suggests Improved MicroSD Support

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to leak like a faucet and the latest revolves around improved microSD card support for the console. The Nintendo Switch has always supported expandable storage via microSD cards. However, the maximum capacity the console would support is 2TB. That may change with the Nintendo Switch 2. A new leak which is allegedly of a GameStop accessory list for the upcoming console shows that the Switch 2 may support microSD express cards.

According to a report from VideoGamesChronicle, this suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 may be able to support microSD card sizes up to 128TB. That being said, you won’t currently find microSD cards above the 2TB capacity. So in theory, the Nintendo Switch 2 could support a lot more expandable storage than the original Nintendo Switch. However, it’s unlikely that cards of that size will ever be available anytime soon.

Nintendo Switch 2 microSD card support will go to at least 1TB

It’s a safe bet that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support at least as much as the original console when it comes to expandable storage capacity. That being said, so far the maximum amount is a card that goes as high as 1TB. According to the listing, a card of this size will retail for $149.99. It isn’t clear what brand the card is. The listing doesn’t show any sort of ETA in terms of release date either.

So we can’t use this to gauge the potential release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 like with some of the other leaked accessories. It’s believed that Nintendo will launch the console sometime in April. Some leaks have suggested the console may arrive in late Spring, which would be as late as June.

More accessories are listed alongside the microSD cards

In addition to the microSD cards, there are a few other accessories that appear on the leaked list. This includes a tempered glass screen protector for $14.99. Additionally, there’s a carry case for $19.99, deluxe cases for $29.99, and a Joy-Con charger grip for $19.99. Now although the listings for these accessories have popped up in the store system, none of the items are actually in stock yet. It may also be a while before stock reaches stores.

And that would make sense given Nintendo hasn’t even announced the console yet.
