Niagara Launcher’s Winter Update Brings New Key Features
Contents
Although they have lost some popularity compared to years ago, custom launchers still have a loyal niche of users. Niagara Launcher is one of the best options available in Android, as it not only offers multiple customization options, but it completely transforms the UI of your device. Now, the Niagara Launcher dev team is releasing the Winter Update with a couple of new key features.
Niagara Launcher’s Winter Update includes “Usage Breaker” to reduce unnecessary screen time
“Usage Breaker” could be the QoL feature that many have been looking for. Do you often find yourself spending hours on apps without realizing it, leading to feelings of fatigue and insufficient time during the day? If so, Usage Breaker might be the perfect solution for you.
The Usage Breaker feature is first rolling out to Niagara Pro subscribers. This is an experimental feature designed to increase your awareness of the time you spend using your favorite apps. Its goal is to reduce unnecessary or unwanted screen time as much as possible. To enable Usage Breaker, you must choose a set of apps that you feel you use too much. The feature will then send you notifications with the time you’ve spent on those apps during the last session. Seeing all the time you’ve wasted on the app in the last few hours might just convince you to take a break.
The feature takes a different approach than similar ones. Instead of restricting app usage, it seeks to generate screen time awareness organically as you use it. Usage Breaker is available under Niagara settings > Features.
Launcher backups are finally arriving
Niagara Launcher is making it easier to transfer data to a new device. Now, if you switch phones, you can set up the launcher with all your previous UI settings and tweaks using a simple backup. This is a big help for those times when your Google account backups don’t leave your new phone looking exactly the same as your old one.
Losing your custom launcher settings can be quite a frustrating experience. After all, they come with a plethora of customization options that some people spend hours trying to tweak to get everything exactly how they like it. Niagara Launcher’s “Backups” feature is now available for both free and Pro users. It’s noteworthy that the feature is still in development, so there are some refinements to be made.
Update available right now
The update is available right now! (4 PM CET / 7 AM PTD / 10 AM EST / 20:30 IST). However, you might not see it on the Play Store yet, as the dev team is distributing it through its community channels first.
