Google added themed icons to Android quite a few years ago at this point, but many apps have still not yet adopted them. One long holdout, Microsoft Teams, has finally changed that though, as the latest Android update adds themed icons support.
Themed icons have been adopted by a lot of apps, especially those from Google. For many, it’s very much possible to have an entire homescreen that’s mostly full of themed icons, but just about everyone has at least one or two irksome apps that haven’t yet flipped the switch.
For a lot of people, that probably includes Microsoft Teams, the workplace app they have no choice but to use.
In its latest stable app update, v1416, Microsoft Teams for Android now supports themed icons. Just toggle the theming option on your homescreen’s settings and the icon will match your colors. The update was first spotted by @IntoGalaxyy on Twitter/X, and we’ve since confirmed it on multiple devices.
Microsoft’s other apps, such as OneNote, Word, and more, have still yet to be updated with themed icons. If Meta was any indication, though, those apps could be next in line.
Are you using themed icons? Have you been waiting for Teams to add support?
