Microsoft Should Charge For These AI Features, But It’s Not!

AI is an expensive venture. It costs companies a ton of money to train AI models and keep everything running, and that cost makes it down to the consumers. Be that as it may, companies sometimes release some powerful features for free. Microsoft just made some powerful Copilot features free for all users.

As you may know, Microsoft has its own line of AI tools under the name Copilot. This platform comes built into Windows, and it provides a ton of tools like text summarization, text generation, image generation, and so on. The company plans to make it the go-to platform on computers.

Just like Google and OpenAI, Microsoft is offering some features to the public free of charge. One of them is called Copilot Voice. This one is pretty straightforward. Rather than typing your prompt, you’ll be able to speak into your phone or computer and get your answer. This is great if you have a pretty complex query, and you don’t feel like typing it down.

The voice feature is also something that people think about when they want their AI to be more agentic. So, if you’re used to talking to your AI, then you’ll like this feature.

The second feature is called Think Deeper. This feature uses OpenAI’s o1 reasoning model to tackle more complex questions. A reasoning model will take longer to “think” about the answer before giving it. This is better for people who have more time, as the model isn’t as quick as GPT-4o or GPT-4o mini.

Both of these features are available for all Copilot users, and there’s no catch. However, if you’re a free user, then you might experience delays during times of high demand. If you’re a Copilot Pro user, then you’ll have preferred access to the models, so you won’t see a delay during those times. That service costs $20/month, which is the same as ChatGPT Plus, and Gemini Advanced.
