Following the April 2025 update for Google Pixel devices, more and more users are running into problems with delayed notifications, an issue that was already affecting many.
If you’ve noticed over the past few weeks that notifications on your Google Pixel device are coming in late or even not at all until you open the device, you’re not alone. Users on Reddit (via Android Police) have noticed that notifications on their Pixel devices are being delayed. Often, the device won’t show notifications until you unlock the device, at which point a flood of notifications can arrive.
We’ve noticed this problem on a Pixel 9 Pro Fold running on the April update, and it appears to be reasonably widespread.
However, this isn’t really a new problem.
While this specific behavior appears to be stemming from the April update for many, delayed notifications on Google Pixel devices have been a fairly common issue for many for the past year or more. Users often report that notifications are delayed or missing entirely without a clear cause. It’s behavior we’ve noted continually on a Pixel 8 still in use, and updates haven’t done much to improve the matter.
If you’re seeing this issue on the April update, or if you’ve been seeing it for a long time, let us know in the comments below. We’re not too far out from the next monthly Pixel update which, hopefully, will give Google a chance to address this problem.
