Google has rolled out a pair of Gemini updates for Workspace users that improves Gmail Q&A (inserting responses) and Imagen 3 (people generation).

Gmail Q&A is how Google brought the Gemini side panel found on desktop web to the mobile Android and iOS apps. At launch, Gmail Q&A let users ask questions about their emails, find specific details, and search.

When activated inside an email, Q&A can now “quickly insert responses or content received after asking Gemini a question directly into an email draft.” In the example below, asking Gemini to “List the next steps” will create action items for you. An “Insert” button (on iOS) or arrow (Android) will create a reply and paste that list for you to edit and send. This has widely rolled out.

With the latest version of Imagen 3, Gemini in Workspace apps can now generate people. This is available in the:

  • Gemini app
  • Gemini Advanced
  • Gemini in the side panel of Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides and Gmail
  • Help me create in Google Docs
  • Help me visualize in Slides
  • Help me create in Vids

The “rollout for generating images with people” is complete for all Gemini instances except the Gemini app, which is targeting availability by March 1.

This capability came to gemini.google.com last year, with Google this week updating Imagen 3 to offer “richer details and textures.” It’s also better at following “your instructions with greater accuracy.”
