Huawei Could Return Among Top 5 Smartphone OEMs In 2025, Globally

Huawei could reach quite a feat this year. According to a new report, Huawei could make a return among top 5 smartphone OEMs, globally, in 2025. This information comes from the supply chain, actually.

This report has been shared by CNMO, as Huawei is predicted to make quite a comeback in 2025. In addition to ranking amongst top 5 smartphone OEMs globally, the company is expected to sit at number 1 spot in China.

This would be quite an achievement for Huawei, as the US ban managed to shatter the company’s plans. Well, maybe not shatter, but at least postpone them. Huawei has been putting the pieces of the puzzle back together, and it seems like it’s ready to make a considerable push.

It will be quite a challenge to make a considerably impact globally without access to Google services and the Google Play Store. In fact, Huawei ditched Android altogether in China with its HarmonyOS NEXT operating system.

We’re not sure what are Huawei’s plans for the global market, but we don’t really see the same thing happening all that soon. Some sources suggested it will happen in 2025, even in the first half of 2025, but we’re not all that convinced.

It remains to be seen if Huawei will stick with HarmonyOS in markets outside of China

Huawei could stick to regular HarmonyOS globally, at least for now. Including HarmonyOS NEXT on global devices may not be a smooth transition, and it would be a huge change. Let’s see what the company is planning, though.

As a reminder, Huawei is currently the second smartphone OEM in China, second only to Vivo. The company managed to sell 46 million smartphones in 2024, outpacing Apple’s 42.9 million, and being a bit behind Vivo’s 49.3 million.

Huawei did grow the most in 2024, YoY, when the Chinese market is concerned. The company marked a 37% growth. Apple fell by 17% YoY, while Vivo grew by 11%.
