Huawei Could Delay Pura 80 & Mate 80 Flagship Series Smartphones

According to a new rumor, Huawei could delay both Pura 80 and Mate 80 series flagship smartphones. This information comes from a Chinese tipster that goes by PengPeng. It’s not our usual source of information, so take what is said here with a grain of salt.

The tipster claims that the Huawei Pura 80 series will be delayed until July 2025. The Pura 70 arrived in April 2024, so its successors were expected to arrive in April or May 2025, but that seemingly won’t happen.

Something similar can be said for the Huawei Mate 80 series smartphones, if the tipster is to be believed. Those devices are tipped to arrive at the very end of the year, or possibly even next year.

As a reminder, the Huawei Mate 70 series arrived in November 2024. So this is also an unexpected delay. The tipster said that the exact reason is unknown at this point in time.

Huawei is expected to announce its second-gen tri-fold smartphone this year

Huawei is, however, expected to announce the second-gen Mate XT tri-fold smartphone this year, new Nova series smartphones, and the Huawei Pocket 3 clamshell foldable.

What’s interesting is that an earlier rumor suggested that the Mate 80 series could arrive sooner than expected, not later. That rumor said that the devices will debut in September 2025.

All of these are just rumors, of course; we don’t have any credible information just yet. Once our regular source of news says something, or perhaps Huawei, we’ll be more certain of the provided information.

It’s difficult to say what’s real and what isn’t at this point. Huawei did debut its Android-free OS in China last year, the HarmonyOS NEXT. It remains to be seen when will that OS make a global debut, but Huawei is expected to cling to Android-based HarmonyOS for a while longer. That could be the reason for this delay, though, we’ll see.
