Here’s What’s New With The Samsung Galaxy S25 Cameras

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is now official and the company’s latest phones are poised to introduce plenty of new features and improvements, and this includes the cameras. Samsung’s phone cameras have always been pretty good but in recent years, they’ve gotten a lot better. This is in no small part to the inclusion of AI but Samsung has also been making inroads with the hardware.

Obviously, how good the cameras are compared to last year won’t be apparent till they’re tested. That being said, there are some new features and improvements to look forward to. These will no doubt improve the user experience for the budding phone photographer. As well as the average user who simply uses their phone for pictures because it’s the closest camera to them.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a new 50MP Ultrawide camera sensor

Every year Samsung makes improvements to the camera in some way, but this year’s big standout when it comes to improvements is the new camera sensor for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This year, Samsung is using a 50MP Ultrawide sensor. This is up from the 12MP Ultrawide sensor that Samsung used on the Galaxy S24. Samsung says it will “set a new standard for mobile photography.” This is also in part due to the use of the “ProVisual Engine.” Together with the new sensor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will “deliver ultra-detailed shots from different ranges.”

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus won’t have this same ultrawide sensor, but they will come with some improvements of their own. Notably, the Audio Eraser feature, which uses AI to help remove unwanted noise from the background in videos. Samsung also says the low-light video recording has improved compared to the Galaxy S24 series, noting that “low-light videos have never been clearer.”

Users can now control depth-of-field in Expert RAW

The Expert RAW app itself is nothing new. It’s available for the Galaxy S24 series and can be downloaded from the Galaxy App Store on those devices. It’ll naturally be available for the Galaxy S25 series as well. However, these new devices will be able to use the app to take advantage of a new feature – Virtual Aperture. With this feature, users can control the depth-of-field to hone in on the subject just a little more with better focus.

Additionally, Samsung is also introducing a new feature called “Galaxy Log.” Samsung says this feature helps bring new color grading capabilities to your videos for more professional video production. All three phones are available for pre-order starting today.
