In the latest update to its channel library, Google TV Freeplay has removed a handful of channels while also added two more back. Here’s what you need to know.
As of December 2024, Google TV Freeplay had grown its catalog to a list of over 170 free streaming channels. That was thanks in part to several new additions specifically for the holiday season. A few weeks later, though, Google ended up losing several of its free channels, but not the ones that had been added in the previous batch.
In its second catalog shuffle this month, Google TV has now removed three channels while adding two more back.
The three channels that have been removed from Google TV Freeplay are from Xumo, and are all holiday-specific. It was largely expected that these channels would have been removed at some point, but it was surprising that they stuck around through mid-February.
- Xumo Holiday Movie Channel
- Xumo Holiday Classics
- Xumo Christian Christmas
Beyond that, Google TV Freeplay has also added back two of the channels that it lost earlier this month, as we first reported.
- OutTV Proud
- Shades of Black
The several other channels that were removed from Freeplay in early February have not yet returned to the library.
