Summary
- NotebookLM is getting dedicated Android and iOS apps.
- The NotebookLM has recently been spotted on the Google Play Store and App Store, revealing key details about what the mobile app looks like.
- The mobile app offers “Recent,” “Shared,” “Title,” and “Downloaded” tabs, supports various input types, and integrates with the share sheet.
Despite coming into existence back in 2023, Google’s NotebookLM started gaining significant traction among users only recently, when it introduced tools like mind maps support, interactive podcasts it generates, and more. However, adding handy features isn’t the only way to increase the reach of NotebookLM.
In addition to introducing new features, Google is also working on different versions of NotebookLM for specific devices. We already know that it has plans to introduce the NotebookLM as a web app in the ChromeOS app drawer. But the NotebookLM Android app, which is now very close to release, will likely have a wider impact. While the usefulness of the NotebookLM app remains to be seen, we have our first look at what the app will look like on Android.

It’s not a leak, as Google has listed the NotebookLM app on the Google Play Store for anyone interested in the app to pre-register. The listing also shows that upon opening the app, users will see four tabs, including “Recent,” “Shared,” “Title,” and “Downloaded,” and a “Create new” button at the bottom.
It also shows that users will be able to add PDF, website, YouTube, and copied text as a source. Once the app is installed on your phone, the NotebookLM lives on the share sheet, allowing you to quickly share PDFs after you open them on your phone. The NotebookLM apps look the same on an Android tablet, except that everything looks bigger for obvious reasons.
When is the NotebookLM app coming?
The app listing on the Google Play Store doesn’t mention when NotebookLM will be available for users, but Apple’s App Store does. The NotebookLM app is also coming to iOS, and listing on the App Store went live along with the Play Store. The App Store listing suggests that the NotebookLM is expected to be released on May 20, the same day as the Google I/O, 2025. So, it’s fair for us to expect some hands-on demos of how the app will work as an app across both Android and iOS ecosystems.
The listing doesn’t clarify whether NotebookLM will be rolled out as a stable app on the said date. However, if 9to5Google is to be believed, the NotebookLM app will launch as a beta in the next “few weeks.” Either way, hopefully, all its useful productivity features will also work on the NotebookLM mobile app when it launches.
