Google App Removing Assistant Settings On Android

Ahead of this year’s mobile deprecation, the Google app is no longer providing a link to Assistant settings.

In recent weeks, we’ve noticed that Google app (version 16.12+) > top-right corner profile menu > Settings, no longer lists “Google Assistant” as one of the preferences.

This long list lets you control: “Hey Google” sensitivity, Accessibility, Accounts, Assistant voice & sounds, Calendar, Communication, Continued Conversation, Digital assistants from Google, Face Match, General, Home control, Languages, Lock screen, Music, News, Nickname, Notes & Lists, Notifications, Offline speech recognition, Parental controls, Personal results, Photos, Podcasts, Quick phrases, Radio, Routines, Tasks, Transportation, Videos, Voice Match, Weather, Wellness, Your apps, Your data in the Assistant, Your people, and Your places.

Even if you’re all-in with Gemini on Android, Assistant settings might still be needed to control your smart home.

To access, go to the Google Home app > Settings > Home features > Google Assistant > Manage all Assistant settings.
If you’re still using the mobile Google Assistant, go to system Settings > Apps > General > Assistant.

Some users are also missing “Gemini” in Google app settings. While the Google app does power Gemini, this preferences page should be dedicated to Google Search.
