Gmail Rolls Out Redesigned Google Calendar Card To Android, IOS

Back in October, Gmail redesigned its summary cards to be more glanceable and actionable, with the updated Google Calendar card now available.

Ahead of the holiday shopping season, Google rolled out the new Purchase card that can show an image, package tracking information with live progress, and other order details. There are useful shortcuts to “Track package” and “View order.”

Gmail has now rolled out the updated Event card that’s tied to Google Calendar. It appears when you “receive an event related email, such as a restaurant reservation or dentist appointment.” The day/date and time is more prominent as the first line followed by the event name and an accompanying image. You then get the location and section/seat (if applicable).

Old vs. new

The card will note any previous events “On your Google Calendar,” including when they end. There are also useful buttons to Invite others, View ticket, get Directions, adding event to Calendar, calling the venue, etc.

This is now rolled out for “Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts” on Android and iOS.

Looking ahead, expect updated summary cards for Bills and Travel. They will later be surfaced in Gmail search and as part of a new “Happening soon” section/stack above your inbox.
