Recently, Samsung released the details of the latest security patch for Galaxy devices. As expected, the South Korean giant began the rollout on last year’s Galaxy S24 series. Now, the February 2025 update is reaching the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Fold SE, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung’s February 2025 security update reaching Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold SE & Flip 6 in South Korea
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold SE arrived in 2024 as the firm’s most premium foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 followed a conservative line with respect to the previous generation, with few hardware improvements, which generated criticism from fans. On the other hand, the Galaxy Fold SE is a thinner phone with some improved tech specs, although limited availability.
Currently, the South Korean versions of both devices are receiving the February 2025 security patch. The foldables use the model numbers SM-F956N (Fold 6) and SM-F958N (Fold SE) in the region. They are getting the OTA under the build numbers F956NKSS2AYAA and F958NKSS2AYAA, respectively.
On the other hand, the “clamshell foldable” Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also starting to receive the update. Again, the firmware is reaching South Korean units first. This particular model is getting the OTA under the build number F741NKSS2AYAA and weighs in at around 400MB. Now that the company has started the rollout, the update will likely reach phones in more regions in the coming days.
An update entirely focused on fixing vulnerabilities
Like the latest monthly updates for Galaxy phones, there are no new features. The February 2025 patch is entirely focused on resolving up to 40 vulnerabilities present in the Android core and One UI. Google contributed 36 fixes for Android, while Samsung included four fixes for vulnerabilities in Galaxy hardware/software. These vulnerabilities allowed the forced enabling of ADB and the disabling of the Samsung Find security system, among other things.
On the other hand, all the models mentioned above are still waiting for One UI 7. The Android 15-based update has been long awaited by fans of Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S24 series could get it between the end of February and the beginning of March. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 FE could receive it at the end of March. Sadly, there is still no tentative date for the arrival of One UI 7 to the company’s latest foldables.
