Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Gorilla Armor 2 Can Survive Serious Drops

As was announced yesterday, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 protection on the front. Now we have more information about the Gorilla Armor 2, so let’s talk about it.

The Gorilla Armor 2 can survive drops from up 2.2m, even onto concrete

The second-gen Gorilla Armor protection offers even better toughness and clarity. Corning says that it can “dramatically reduce surface reflections in both indoor and outdoor ambient settings”.

Its anti-reflective properties “can enhance the display contrast ratio in various lighting conditions”. It is also “over four times” more scratch resistant compared to unnamed “competitive lithium-aluminosilicate cover glasses with an anti-reflective coating”.

The company claims that in its lab tests, the Gorilla Armor 2 managed to survive drops from up to 2.2m (7.2 feet) onto “a surface replicating concrete”. Corning also claims that alternative ceramic glass materials “ failed even when dropped from 1m (3.2 feet).

Corning did fail to name any specific competitors, though, so… there you go. The Gorilla Armor 2 will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, so don’t expect to see it on any other devices. The same is the case with the Gorilla Armor.

Samsung will retain the Gorilla Armor exclusivity

Samsung has got to make it worthwhile for Corning to keep this up, that’s for sure. The Gorilla Armor was outstanding at battling reflections, and from what we’ve seen, the Gorilla Armor 2 is on that same level, if not better.

It would be great to see it on other smartphones, but that won’t be happening, unfortunately. Let’s hope that the exclusivity will end with the third-gen model, at least. It’s difficult to explain how much of a difference its anti-reflective properties make. You really need to use it in order to truly appreciate it, even though the images did paint a nice picture as well.

All three Galaxy S25 series smartphones arrived yesterday, and you can pre-order them already, if you’d like.
