Galaxy S25 Ultra With 16GB RAM Exists, But Few Can Buy It

The Galaxy S25 series was made official yesterday at the first Unpacked event of the year. Previous leaks on the phone claimed that Samsung would offer 16GB RAM versions of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This ultimately didn’t happen in Western markets, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening anytime soon. However, there are a couple of countries in particular that will be able to enjoy this exclusive variant.

Samsung capping even the most expensive version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 12GB of RAM in most of the world likely disappointed many fans. In the current Android industry, several flagship phones have adopted 16GB of RAM as a near-standard while also offering more affordable 12GB RAM variants.

Memory is especially important in the AI era, and with Samsung’s premium phones being so AI-focused, it seemed logical that the company would offer a boost in its next-gen flagship phones. Sadly, that didn’t turn out to be the case.

Samsung is offering a Galaxy S25 Ultra with 16GB of RAM in South Korea and China

That said, starting tomorrow (January 24), fans in South Korea will be able to pre-order a 16GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra—only in Titanium Jet Black. This configuration, which also features 1TB of storage, will be available for 2.25 million won (about $1,568). The previous step from that variant in South Korea features 12GB RAM + 1TB of storage and costs 2.13 million won (about $1,484). So, potential buyers can pay the equivalent of around $85 to receive an additional 4GB of RAM.

The 16GB Galaxy S25 Ultra is also available in China. Interestingly, the company is offering this version instead of the 12GB + 1TB one. The device costs 13,699 yuan (about $1,880) in the Asian country. For reference, the 12GB + 512GB variant costs 11,199 yuan (about $1,535) in China. There is quite a considerable price difference between the two models.

It would probably have been quite expensive in the West

Samsung has not said anything officially about the absence of the 16GB Galaxy S25 Ultra in Western markets. However, it is quite possible that the company has determined that it will not sell many of them. After all, the current most expensive S25 Ultra in the West (12GB + 1TB) costs a whopping $1,659.99 in the US. A 16GB RAM model might have cost around $1,750-$1,800.
