It turns out that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has a very neat feature for (amateur) filmmakers. It’s actually a feature that the iPhone 15 Pro delivered in 2023.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has a nice feature for filmmakers
Samsung’s latest flagships can record video straight to external USB-C storage. This may not be useful to regular users, but if you’re shooting a lot of video content for some reason, you’ll certainly appreciate it.
Let’s say that you’re shooting content for your YouTube channel, in 4K. The internal storage of your phone can get filled up really quickly, especially if you have the base 256GB model. Well, thanks to this feature, it won’t be a problem.
Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, confirmed that the feature is available, despite it was not mentioned by Samsung. He showed that the latest version of the Camera Assistant app on the Galaxy S25 phones allows you to automatically save videos to external storage. You, of course, need to have external storage plugged into the device.
It supports a whole setup of video modes on the devices
Now, that feature seemingly supports Video, Pro Video, Portrait Video, Timelapse, and Slow-Motion modes. In other words, it supports the entire video-centric feature set of the Galaxy S25 phones.
That same feature was made available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max back in 2023. It made some people really happy, as many YouTubers film their content using iPhones, at least partially.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 users will now be able to do the same. Do note that Samsung’s implementation does support more video formats for recording externally. Apple only allows you to record ProRes to USB-C storage.
We did mention it a number of times in the article, but let’s just be clear, this feature is available on all Galaxy S25 phones, not just the ‘Ultra’ model. That is also nice to see, even though chances are most people will take advantage of it on the ‘Ultra’ variant.
